Product Introduction – Aluminum Oxide for Diaphragm Coating
Lithium‑ion battery separators are typically made of polyolefins, which provide adequate mechanical properties at room temperature. However, at elevated temperatures, they are prone to significant thermal shrinkage, potentially causing a short circuit between the positive and negative electrodes and leading to spontaneous combustion or even explosion.
Coating an organic separator with aluminum oxide can significantly enhance its high-temperature resistance, thereby improving the safety of lithium batteries. Meanwhile, the ceramic coating also boosts the separator’s liquid‑retention capability and reinforces its mechanical properties.There are two general‑purpose alumina grades for diaphragm coating: ZK2230 and ZK233C; custom formulations are available to meet specific customer requirements.
Characteristics of alumina products for diaphragm coating:- High product purity; regular, smooth morphology with no sharp edges.
- The particle size distribution is narrow.
- Excellent dispersibility, stable suspension of the prepared slurry, and consistent product quality.
